India is home of the greatest population of tibetan people in exile. Although they don't have passport, voting rights, social protection... a lot of them take initiatives to work. Three tibetan brothers founded Shangri-La treks, 8 years ago. Born in India, they are living in Manali. Three of them knows both indian and tibetan culture. They speak hindi but also english and tibetan, which is of great help to communicate with people you will meet during a trek in Ladakh, Zanskar, Spiti... All languages spoken there are coming from tibetan.

What does mean Shangri-La?
Some texts are speaking about a legendary country, named Shangri-La, lost in the snow of high mountains of Himalaya. A kind of paradise, where all beings are living in peace, harmony, spirituality... For some people, Tibet, "Pays des neiges", is the lost country of Shangri-La.

Shangri-La's spirit

  • Whatever the trip you choose, you will have a guide and a cooker. For the treks, one or more horsemen will take care of the horses. Horses will carry all your luggage, you just have to take food and drink for the day, camera...
  • In order to make you really enjoy your trip, we have to choose together the right trip. Tell us if you are used to walking at home, if you have already been in high altitude, if you prefer to visit monasteries... we can construct together the best itinerary for you.
